How to protect your paint from the Florida sun
Published September 1, 2026
UV, salt air and afternoon storms wear a clear coat down fast. Here is what actually slows it down between details.
Why the sun matters
A Tampa summer puts a car through more UV in three months than a northern car sees in a year. Clear coat oxidises, dark paint chalks, and water spots bake in during the afternoon storm cycle.
Three habits that help
Wash every two weeks. Bird droppings and lovebugs etch paint within days in the heat.
Dry with a towel, never the sun. Air-dried minerals leave the spots that need polishing later.
Park in the shade when you can. A carport alone can double the life of a sealant.
Sealant or ceramic?
A spray sealant gives about three months of protection and is included in every wash. A ceramic coating lasts two years and makes every wash after it faster, which is why our Ceramic Protect package includes a free maintenance wash at 30 days.
